About FBC
The mission of the First Baptist Church of Ashland is “loving God, loving people, and making Him known.” We love Jesus and reach out with His love to all who attend. Teaching is from God’s Word, dress is casual, and our worship style is blended. Volunteers currently lead worship and we are fortunate to have many skilled musicians serving on our worship team.
The church was founded in 1877 and is affiliated with Church Ventures. We have approximately 50 members with a slightly higher attendance on Sunday mornings. An elected Elder’s board governs the church and oversees seven ministries (Worship, Equipping, Missions, Care, Administration, Facilities and Communication). Most ministries are led by a separate church deacon in support of the Elders.
Like many churches, FBC has struggled with membership and attendance through the pandemic and in conjunction with changes in pastorship. During this time a prayerful core membership has remained at FBC to continue its mission and prepare for the next steps determined by God.
Staff includes an administrative assistant, janitor and groundskeeper with many of the routine administration and maintenance tasks done or managed by volunteers. The annual budget is approximately 323K.
