Celebrating Chaplain Steve Crowder’s Service
Congratulations to Lead Chaplain Steve Crowder, who received the Broomfield Police Department’s Meritorious Service Award on October 3, 2026, in recognition of his exceptional dedication and selfless service to department employees and their families for the past seven and a half years.
Since joining as a volunteer chaplain in March 2019, Steve has contributed more than 1,000 hours of service. He attended 826 department events and contributed more than 1000 hours of volunteer service.
His certificate reads (in part): Chaplain Crowder has stood beside the department during some of life’s most significant moments. He has offered prayers at ceremonies, celebrated weddings, officiated funerals, visited employees and families in hospitals, supported personnel following critical incidents, blessed newborns and new homes and comforted those experiencing illness, loss or crisis. His visits to roll call, encouraging messaging, snacks and well-known hugs are meaningful reminders of how deeply he cares for the people of the Broomfield Police Department.

The certificate honors Steve’s humility, servant leadership, and commitment to the department’s values of Service, Compassion, and Trust. His ministry reminds us of the unique calling that Chaplains have and the difference one faithful, caring person can make through a selfless commitment to listen, support, and journey alongside those who are called and trained to run towards danger to protect and defend.
As the certificate fittingly concludes: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23. Congratulations, Chaplain Steve, and thank you for your faithful service!
