My father-in-law passed away this week. He faithfully preached the gospel for 77 of his 93 years on earth! He had a passionate love for Jesus and passed that love on to his son and three daughters. So, this week, as we approach Mother’s Day, I am reminded of the significance and deep need for us to leave a Godly Heritage. It can potentially shape the lives of generations that will come after us.
While many have struggled with how they should be approaching Mother’s Day in their church, we should not overlook the importance of considering what we will leave the next generation. A family with a solid personal relationship with Christ, engagement with a local gospel-driven church, and serving those who have yet to know Jesus is more likely to continue to pass that on to future generations.
There are no guarantees when it comes to parenting. But a strong heritage or legacy can provide a sense of purpose, identity, and direction that will lay the groundwork for the next generation as they make their own life choices. Ultimately, a Godly family heritage can positively impact our culture, as it contributes to forming individuals who are committed to the truth of God’s Word, serving Him, and serving others. Thank you, church leaders, for your labor that will make a difference to future generations!
